Statelessness is a global issue, affecting millions of people. In many cases, those who are stateless can not receive a formal education, obtain a license to drive a car, travel anywhere requiring documentation, or find employment legally. Unfortunately, this makes them easy targets for human trafficking.
If we are determined to care for orphans, ensuring that every child has a family, then we must begin addressing problems like statelessness, illegal adoptions, human trafficking, and poverty. Often, these issues are the cause for children being separated from their parents.
